Sabar Oulof is the explosive traditional percussion music resounding around the streets of Dakar and Northern Senegal. Derived from the Serre people, it has integrated into much of the popular Senegalese music exported around the world today.
This recording delivers the music in its purest form capturing the sheer power and vivacity of the people of Senegal. Modou Diouf and his musicians come from a long linage of Gewel (Griot performers, and are dedicated to the continuance of this remarkable and thunderous percussion heritage.

This CD was recorded during Danza Libre's first UK tour to mark the company's 10th anniversary. The traditional music performed on this CD is very much alive in Cuba today with influences from all over the globe, especially Africa, France, Spain and Haiti. Much of the traditional arrangements come from the Afro-French-Haitian cultural mix particular to Cuba Oriente (Eastern Cuba), a result of immigration over history.
